Newborn
Newborn session:
Newborns are best photographed between 5-14 days of birth
To ensure we are able to capture those fleeting moments in your babies first few days of birth and to make sure we get those sweet little features you will want to look back on for a lifetime. Babies this age are still accustomed to being in those curly sleepy “womb like” newborn poses. After this age, they don’t sleep as deeply, often don’t like being moved around into different positions and start to lose that newness that we want to capture in your newborn session!
I like to keep my newborn session simple and timeless, making sure to keep the focus on your baby in a natural setting. You don’t need to worry about bringing outfits for a newborn session as more often than not most newborns don’t fit into their first outfits, and we want to capture your baby just as he or she is! Through the use of hats, headbands, wraps etc we are able to incorporate some of your personal style and/or favorite colors etc. while still keeping it natural.
It is important to contact me while you are still pregnant to set a tentative session date based upon your due date, and to get you on my list of newborns for that month. Once baby is here please contact me as soon as possible and we will pick the best date that works for you within the first 14 days of birth.
How to prepare for your session:
Please contact me as soon as possible after your baby is born. From there Emily will get in touch with you and email you a list of helpful tips and finalize details with you once your session has been scheduled.
What to bring:
Please bring along diapers, wipes, a warm blanket/favorite swaddle blanket, Pacifier (even if your baby isn’t currently taking one), Bottle, formula(and/or) breast milk. Also please dress in layers as I normally keep my studio space around 85 degrees for newborn sessions to ensure that baby stays at a comfortable temperature throughout the session.
If you plan on including family shots please bring along a white, black or neutral toned tshirt, cami or tank top.
